Carmel, IN is well known for their high school sports, just last year they reached their 100th state title mark. While just this past weekend the Girl's Swimming and Diving team of Carmel High School won their 23rd consecutive state title. With two national records broken and eight school records broken. It was the most unbelievable state meet in the 23 years that we have been winning. I say we because I was apart of the state winning team for four years of my life starting in the 2003-2004 season, and ending it in the 2006-2007 season. My boyfriend thinks it is wild how crazy I am about the high school swimming, he said high school swimming in Florida is just kind of there, not a lot of fans. He thought it was strange how I was on my phone almost the whole day on Saturday with my two best friends and my mom just talking about how fast the girls were going. Some times I thought were not possible, but the girls really stepped up and showed who was once again number one in the state. On Sunday I was reading some articles and it was a great article until I got to some of the comments who just ripped on these girls, that is another thing, Carmel is a more wealthy area of Indiana and not a lot of people outside of Carmel like when we win. Oh well, I personally think they are just jealous because they do not have 23 consecutive state titles. But all I have to say is that these girls work their asses off, I should know since I went through it for four years; they deserve that title and I am very proud of all the girls! This is the article I was talking about, Bob Kravitz is a very well respected sports writer in Indiana and for him to write something about a Girl's High School Swim Team is pretty respectable.
