A Long Road, Carmel High School Girls Basketball

From Mono, to almost quitting, to having foot surgery, my younger sister might be the toughest girl I know. She had mono for almost the whole basketball season last year, but that did not stop her, right when the doctor told her she could go shoot she was in that gym non-stop. She fought through it and was on the winning state team, she was actually one of the best players of the game last year. She lost some of her relationships with some of the girls on the team while she had mono, just due to the fact that they were all "bonding" and she could never be at practice to bond with the team. While she went through this time she was ready to quit, she hated going to basketball practice because she felt like she was being left out. Which is understandable, she was a 17 year old girl and just wanted to get a long with her team. But she kept pushing through, believe me it was not easy, I would hear how horrible it was and how it is not worth it. But she kept pushing through, she knew she was going to be better for it too. Then this past August she went through foot surgery, she basically had an extra bone growing on her foot and it effected her playing. She was out for a good two months, and again she started to lose touch with her team. But once high school season got started she was back in action and had all her friends back on the team. Sure, some of the girls and herself do not get along but when they are one the court no one could ever tell. Her and her teammates just got done winning Sectionals this past weekend and are headed to regionals this upcoming weekend. Hopefully they make it through three more games and head right onto state!
