I will never forget sitting in the stretch room right before Friday morning workout and our coach telling us that one of our teammates had something very important to tell us. Never in my life would I have thought she was going to say she has cancer and had to go home. She has been one of my good friends for over a year now and when she told me I could just not believe that this was happening. I thought this would never happen to someone who was so young and so close to me. I know this is kind of a depressing post but it has been a depressing past few days around me and my friends.

The Scary Truth of Cancer
It was Friday January 23, 2009 around 7 in the morning when one of my best friends, teammate, and roommate got up in front of the whole team and said that she had cancer and was heading home the following day. She was having problem with her leg for a while just due to shin splints. Around winter break she found out that she had a stress fracture and just needed to stop running but could still swim. Her leg was still bothering her and finally she decided she should just go get an MRI, just to see if anything was fractured. The results came back about two days after she got the MRI and they found a tumor on one of her bones in her leg.
